You can choose between a Catholic, Anglican or Civil wedding in Cyprus. For the former, your Catholic ceremony must be preceded by a civil wedding ceremony in order to be legally binding in the UK. Additionally, one of you must be Catholic, both of you must be baptised in a Christian church and neither of you may be divorced.
The Anglican Church, however, will accept divorcees, although at least one of you must have been baptised as a Christian.
Civil ceremonies are modern and practical. You will be issued with a marriage certificate immediately after the ceremony, which is recognised worldwide.

Marriages performed in Cyprus are legally binding and internationally recognised. Procedures aren’t particularly complex, which is why the destination is so popular for weddings. Below are the important legalities you need to know to ensure your Cyprus wedding runs as smoothly as possible:
· There is a minimum residency period of three working days, meaning, if you are having a hotel ceremony, you must stay at the hotel for at least three days prior to your wedding day.
· A selection of documents will be required by both the bride and groom, including birth certificates, your passport and a Single Statutory Declaration, which certifies your right to marry. The latter is only available for two months, so make sure you don’t apply for this too early.
