Weddings in Mexico FAQs

Mexico is an affordable place to visit, an increasingly popular alternative destination to the Mediterranean with a fabulous climate. Weddings in Mexico are equally as affordable, with many hotels offering complimentary ceremonies as part of an all-inclusive package. With a readymade package, you know exactly what you’ll pay at the start, but we can also help you build a custom offering as well. Get in touch to find out more.
Traditional Mexican weddings can last for up to 2 days. Lazos, similar to Hawaiian floral leis, are placed on the bride and groom’s shoulders to link them together. The ceremony proceeds as normal, and at the reception you might see several things that mark it out as a Mexican wedding. Sometimes boys and girls sit on separate tables, there may be a money dance whereby male guests ‘pay’ to dance with the bride, and female guests ‘pay’ to dance with the groom. Many Mexican weddings feature a traditional Mariachi band.
Mexican food is such a popular stable in many parts of the world, but for the authentic taste of Mexico you have to go to the source. People eat traditional dishes at a Mexican wedding, including Birria (spiced goat, beef or chicken stew), braised pork carnitas, peppers stuffed with meat covered in a walnut sauce and topped with pomegranate (chiles en nogada), and of course plenty of tequila and Margaritas to wash it all down.
