Everything you need to know about getting married in Crete
Yes, when you get married in Crete, providing all of your documents and the marriage is official, your marriage will be recognised back home in Britain. You should also be able to legally marry and have your marriage recognised if you’re from the EU too.
Before you embark on your dream Crete wedding there are a few things your wedding planner will arrange. You’ll need to provide all your legal documents including a valid photo ID, birth certificates and a certificate of no impediment. From here your wedding planner will arrange your attendance to the town hall or registry office to officiate your marriage before your ceremony.
The best time for a wedding in Crete is from late spring to early autumn (May to October). During these months, the weather is typically warm and sunny, ideal for outdoor ceremonies and receptions. July and August are the peak tourist months, so you may want to avoid these months and their busy crowds. From September to October the temperature is cooler and Crete is quieter.
