Perched 267 metres high on a hill overlooking the town of Ialyssos is the Filerimos Cross, with its stunning panoramic views of the Aegean Sea, Rhodes city and the numerous pine and cypresses trees. A great wedding destination and a truly wonderful place to exchange your vows. As you walk along the path to the cross you will see 14 stands displaying the events that took place from the sentencing of Jesus Christ by Pilate, to his final crucifixion. Starting at the sentencing and ending on Mount Golgotha, you cannot help but imagine Jesus Carrying the cross on his final walk. Also atop of the mountain is the ancient archaeological site of the Acropolis of the Ialyssos town, with the Temple of Athena Polias.  The area is one of beauty and history and understandably, a popular place for people wanting a Rhodes wedding.

Weddings at the Filerimos Cross

People choose the Filerimos Cross for their wedding ceremony for a number of reasons. From the stunning scenery and breath-taking views, to the historic atmosphere of bygone days making the affair utterly magic. Close by, you have a monastery and a small church where the ceremony will take place. Wedding ceremonies are conducted Monday to Saturdays. The wedding pictures will capture the dreamy location perfectly, while you take your vows in front of your wedding guests. Be sure to have some pictures taken at the avenue filled with cypresses and bougainvillea, leading up to the foundations of the temple. The 15 metre high cross will also be a talking point with your guests, as will be the stunning views. There are plenty of hotels and restaurants and the buzzing town of Rhodes is only 15km away. You will need to go to the Town Hall of Ialysos the day after your wedding, to sign the register with your witness who will also need to take their passports. If the ceremony is on a Friday then you will need to go on the following Monday.
